Urge Congress to Cosponsor the We the People Amendment!
A new Congress has begun, and with it comes a renewed opportunity to challenge the dominance of corporate money in our political system. Rep. Pramila Jayapal has just reintroduced the We the People Amendment and issued a new Dear Colleague letter calling on members of Congress to join as cosponsors.

It’s time to break the cycle.
We’ve all seen the movie Groundhog Day, where Bill Murray keeps reliving the same day over and over until he gets it right. Well, here’s the thing – we don’t want to keep repeating the same mistakes, and we certainly don’t want our political system stuck in a loop of corporate influence and inaction.
It’s time to break the cycle.

Corporate Inaguration
As Congress convened on January 3, 2025, and Inauguration Day unfolds today, January 20, we are reminded of the glaring divide in this country. The inauguration, while presented as a moment of unity and power, is ultimately a sham—a spectacle where corporate interests and billionaires remain in control, pushing policies that serve the wealthiest few rather than the needs of the many.

Building People Power in 2025: A New Year, A Renewed Fight!
As we step into 2025, we extend our warmest wishes for a year of resilience, solidarity, and transformative change. All things considered, we know that the road ahead is challenging, with the corporate takeover of our political system continuing to erode the very foundations of people-centered governance. The specter of Insurrection 2.0 has cast a long shadow, but it only reinforces the urgency of our mission: to fight for a democracy that truly serves We the People.

We don't have to tell you about the corrupting influence of money in elections, or the power corporations yield in our Democracy.
You're already acutely aware that whatever amount of Democracy we've ever had is ever-increasingly imperiled.
But are you also aware that Move to Amend is the only anti-corruption organization campaigning to end corporate rule and big money in elections -- which together have caused massive harms to people, places, the planet and our elections?

🤔Questions:
- If your house is on fire, should a bucket be used to extinguish it instead of one or more fire hoses?
- If thirty doses of a medicine are required to treat a serious illness, should your doctor only prescribe ten?
- If all your car brakes fail, should only one be repaired for maximum safety?

Affiliate Spotlight: A Steady Commitment to Change
As we reflect on the tireless efforts of Move to Amend’s network of activists, one group stands out for its remarkable accomplishments over the past year: the Minnesota Move to Amend State Network. While the national conversation has largely focused on election cycles and the immediate political landscape, this Minnesota-based team has quietly yet powerfully laid the groundwork for long-term systemic change—gathering 65 Pledges to Amend from candidates—the most of any affiliate group. With this impressive achievement, they have set a high bar for grassroots movements everywhere, proving that when communities unite with a shared purpose, they can drive monumental change.

Money Spent in the 2024 Election
A whopping 16 billion dollars were spent on the 2024 election cycle this past year. Our previous election laws served as little more than cruel jokes as wealthy megadonors such as Elon Musk were able to curry favor and openly buy influence by pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into Super PACs and other forms of dark money.
It is genuinely difficult for the average person to imagine just how much money 16 billion dollars is - and for what? Are we as a country better off for spending all that money? Did our donations "save democracy" as DNC fundraisers were to have you believe? Considering where we are now, the better question may be - isn't it time we put a stop to this nonsense?

Giving Tuesday
This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to invest in a future where power belongs to the people—not corporations.
Move to Amend is fighting to reclaim democracy and restore power to communities that have been silenced by corporate influence. With the We the People Amendment (H.J.R. 54), we’re working to dismantle corporate rule, making it possible for everyone to have an equal voice in the decisions that shape our world.
But we can’t do it alone.
-
Give the Gift of Justice!
As the season of giving approaches, we're reminded of the importance of making choices that reflect our values—and the world we want to create. This Black Friday, instead of contributing to the frenzy of consumption, we invite you to make a meaningful impact with your purchases by supporting Move to Amend’s mission.
When you buy from our store, you're not just getting a T-shirt, hoodie, or book. You're investing in a movement—one that seeks to dismantle corporate rule and restore power to the people. From organizing materials to literature, every item you buy helps fund the grassroots work we do to advance the We the People Amendment (H.J.R. 54) and fight against the unchecked power of corporations in our lives.

This is the Moment to Act: Urge Congress to pass the #WeThePeopleAmendment!
We know that the election results have left many of us processing a whirlwind of emotions.
A second Trump administration brings new challenges, but we at Move to Amend have a reminder for you: we were built for this moment.
Move to Amend began with a vision, well ahead of the January 21, 2010, Citizens United v. FEC decision. Knowing the consequences of such a ruling, we gathered as a community to prepare and to proactively chart a path toward a future free from corporate rule. We believed then—and still do—that together we could create change that would outlast any decision, any election, or any setback.
Now, with the 118th Congressional Session still in progress, there remains crucial work to do. We must continue pushing for the We the People Amendment, H.J.R. 54, and reclaim our government from corporate control. Together, we can still put pressure on Congress, laying the groundwork for a fair and just future—one that no single election can erase.
And, if you need a space to collectively process emotions, join Our Post-Election Conversation this Friday, November 15 at 5 PM ET / 2 PM PT.

INVEST a few dollars toward legalizing democracy and a Constitution that only belongs to We The People, not the corporations!
Will you join me in recruiting our Congress member to co-sponsor the #WeThePeople Amendment?
I'LL JOIN YOUWhy I support Move to Amend
Hi friends!
What's the number one issue you care about? It can be anything -- ie voter rights, BLM, climate change, abolishing ICE, etc. If you look close enough, you will see corporate personhood fingerprints and traces of dark money all over it. The great corporatization of Congress...it's not a Conspiracy, its our sad reality. Our Representatives no longer represents We the People, they only represent their Corporate Donors' best interest.
And while there are many great orgs and movements out there addressing corruption and the many other subsequent issues we are facing, only Move to Amend is addressing the two root issues: Money in Politics AND the absurdity of Corporate Personhood Rights.
This will require a LOT of public education, political engagement, and persistence -- especially when there's a lot of private interests that will try to stop us using their deep pockets -- but it CAN be done if we all play our part: volunteer, spread the word, and INVEST a few dollars toward legalizing democracy and a Constitution that only belongs to We The People, not the corporations!
Will you help me raise money to get the undue influence of big money and corporate interests out of our government by setting up a monthly donation to Move to Amend on this page?
