Congressional Update: 7 Days in DC!

For one remarkable week, Move to Amend joined hundreds of advocates, organizers, artists, and democracy champions in Washington, D.C. for 7 Days in DC: From Protest to Power. Together, we demonstrated what it looks like to move beyond outrage and toward building the people-powered movement our democracy demands.

One of the week's most unforgettable moments came during the march to the U.S. Capitol, where our longtime allies at Backbone Campaign unfurled their giant Constitution across Constitution Avenue. As thousands walked beneath its opening words—"We the People"—the message couldn't have been clearer: our Constitution belongs to the people, not corporations, billionaires, or special interests.

That same spirit carried through the entire week. Move to Amend participated in congressional lobbying, workshops, strategy sessions, coalition gatherings, public demonstrations, and educational events, working alongside dozens of partner organizations committed to creating a democracy where every voice matters.

We were especially honored to help launch the week by participating in the opening panel, "From Protest to Power: Building a Genuine Democracy Through Constitutional Change." During the discussion, we explored why the We the People Amendment (H.J.Res. 54) is an essential structural solution to the outsized influence of money in politics and corporate power over our government.

Missed the panel? You can now watch the full recording and share it with friends, family, and fellow organizers to help spread the conversation about constitutional change.

The week also delivered meaningful progress on Capitol Hill. On June 29, Rep. Wesley Bell (MO-01) became the 77th cosponsor of the We the People Amendment, proving once again that persistent grassroots organizing and constituent advocacy continue to move Congress in the right direction.

Our coalition continues to grow as well. We're proud to welcome FL-CPR and 50501 DC as the newest organizations endorsing the We the People Amendment, expanding the movement working to build a government that serves people—not concentrated wealth.

Every new cosponsor. Every new coalition partner. Every new conversation brings us closer to the constitutional change our democracy needs.

But our work is far from over.
