We the People Wednesdays -October 28, 2026

WE THE PEOPLE WEDNESDAY

IN THIS EMAIL:

Election Day is November 3 — Let's make the We the People Amendment an election issue.

Candidates want your vote — Ask them to sign the Pledge to Amend.

Elections matter, but they're not enough — Why changing politicians isn't the same as changing the system.

Take action — Put H.J.Res. 54 on the agenda before Election Day!

ELECTIONS CHANGE WHO HOLDS POWER. THE WE THE PEOPLE AMENDMENT CHANGES THE RULES.

Election Day is less than a week away.

Across the country, candidates are making their final pitches, promising change, asking for donations, and competing for our votes.

But there's a question we should all be asking:

What good is electing new representatives if the same corporate interests continue to wield enormous power over our political system?

We vote. We organize. We elect new leaders. And yet, election after election, the influence of wealthy donors, corporations, and special interests continues to undermine the will of We the People.

That's not simply a problem of choosing the wrong candidates.

It's a problem with the rules of the system itself.

Supreme Court decisions have granted corporations constitutional protections originally intended for human beings and have treated political spending as protected speech, severely limiting our ability to regulate the influence of money in elections.

That's why Move to Amend is fighting for the We the People Amendment (H.J.Res. 54).

Our amendment would establish two fundamental principles:

1. Constitutional rights belong to human beings, not corporations.

2. Money is not speech, and political spending can be regulated, limited, or prohibited.

This is about more than one election, one political party, or one administration.

It's about creating the conditions for real democracy, where people—not corporations or wealthy interests—have the power to govern.

TAKE ACTION & CONTACT CONGRESS

CANDIDATES WANT YOUR VOTE. ASK FOR THEIR PLEDGE.

With Election Day approaching, candidates are more accessible—and more interested in hearing from voters—than almost any other time.

Let's use that opportunity.

Move to Amend's Pledge to Amend campaign asks candidates for public office to commit to supporting a constitutional amendment that ends corporate constitutional rights and the doctrine that money is protected political speech.

Already, 203 candidates have taken the Pledge to Amend!

But we need more.

Whether a candidate is running for Congress, state legislature, or local office, asking them to take the pledge helps make corporate rule and constitutional reform part of the political conversation.

YOUR ACTION THIS WEEK:

Find candidates running in your community and ask them to sign the Pledge to Amend.

You can:

Attend a campaign event, candidate forum, or town hall.

Contact candidates directly through their campaign websites or social media.

Ask candidates publicly whether they support the We the People Amendment.

Share the Pledge to Amend with friends, neighbors, and local organizations.

Here's a question you can ask:

"If elected, will you publicly support the We the People Amendment to establish that constitutional rights belong to human beings, not corporations, and that money is not protected speech?"

Don't settle for vague promises to "get money out of politics."

Ask for a concrete commitment.

ELECTIONS ARE IMPORTANT. BUT ELECTIONS ALONE ARE NOT THE SOLUTION.

Let's be clear: Voting matters. Elections have consequences. Who represents us matters.

But our movement's work doesn't begin or end at the ballot box.

Even well-intentioned elected officials operate within a political and legal system that gives corporations extraordinary influence and protects the political power of concentrated wealth.

We cannot simply vote our way out of a system whose fundamental rules are stacked against us.

We have to change those rules.

That's the heart of Move to Amend's theory of change.

We aren't waiting for the right politician to rescue democracy.

We're building a grassroots, multiracial, cross-partisan movement powerful enough to demand structural change—through education, organizing, coalition-building, and sustained pressure on elected officials.

And we're advancing a concrete solution: the We the People Amendment.

With 82 cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives, we're demonstrating that grassroots organizing can translate into growing congressional support.

But passing a constitutional amendment requires much more than winning an election. It requires sustained public pressure, broad political support, and a movement that keeps organizing regardless of which party holds power.

November 3 is one day. Our movement is here for the long haul.

MAKE THE WE THE PEOPLE AMENDMENT AN ELECTION ISSUE!

Between now and Election Day, we're asking you to do three things:

1. VOTE. Make your voice heard in this election.

2. ASK. Challenge candidates to take the Pledge to Amend and publicly commit to ending corporate rule.

3. ORGANIZE. Talk with your friends, family, and neighbors about why elections alone aren't enough—and why we need the We the People Amendment.

And after Election Day?

Keep organizing.

Follow up with newly elected officials. Ask your representatives to cosponsor H.J.Res. 54. Help build the grassroots pressure necessary to win a constitutional amendment.

Because the goal isn't simply to elect better people to operate within a broken system.

The goal is to change the system so that We the People—not corporations—are in charge.

Elections are a moment of political power.

A constitutional amendment is how we can fundamentally change the rules.

Let's make this election count for something bigger than Election Day.

In solidarity,

Alfonso, Greg, Jessica, Jason, Tara, Cole, Shelly, George, Daniel, Kelsey, Jennie, Keyan & Katie

P.S.

Move to Amend is 100% grassroots funded. Every meeting we hold, every organizer we train, every congressional office we visit, and every new supporter we reach is made possible by people like you. If you're able, please make a contribution to help us continue building the movement to pass the We the People Amendment.
