RECAP: We the People at the DNC
From August 15-22, our team was deeply engaged in a series of impactful events that have set the stage for exciting new developments in our fight for H.J.R 54, the We the People Amendment.
We kicked off our activities with strategic-planning sessions in Chicago, where our National Team of co-directors and board members came together, informed by your input, to plan our next steps and ensure that our approach aligns with our core values. Our strategic discussions, and collaborative efforts, joined by our grassroots leaders and advocates, laid a strong foundation for the actions to come. Highlights included, a nighttime Light Brigade- holding lighted signs spelling "END CORPORATE RULE", and other innovative ideas, like Todd Telford’s Sequential Curbside Actions (SCAs), which proved to be high-visibility actions to enhance our outreach and engagement efforts.
For those interested in learning more about this tactic, a step-by-step guide is available on our website.
Our hard work paid off during the DNC, where our presence and creativity made a significant impact. We’re thrilled to announce that Rep. Mike Levin from CA-49 has agreed to cosponsor the We the People Amendment, a direct result of our on-the-ground efforts! This is a perfect example of how people-powered activism can drive real change.
We invite you to read the full-length recap of our week for more in-depth details on what transpired. You can find the complete story here.
But we need your help to keep the momentum going. We’re aiming to reach 100 cosponsors for the We the People Amendment this congressional session. With 86 cosponsors already secured and only a few months remaining, every action counts!
Use our One Click Politics software to seamlessly connect with your representative’s office and make your voice heard. Simply answer a few basic questions, like your zip code and phone number, and you’ll be ready to advocate for the change we need.

Here are other ways you can contribute to the success of H.J.R. 54
Pledge to Amend: One of the most impactful ways to support our cause is by urging any and all candidates for public office to take the Pledge to Amend. By signing the pledge, candidates commit to using their office to advance and support H.J.R. 54, the We the People Amendment.
We’re excited to share that Dr. Jill Stein, Presidential Candidate for the Green Party recently took the pledge, reinforcing her commitment to our cause.
Encourage your local candidates to take the pledge and show their commitment to ensuring that corporations and other artificial entities do not have constitutional rights, and that money is not considered speech.
Collect Petition Signatures: Help us reach 600,000 signatures by collecting them at community events, farmers' markets, or even online. Get started with a recruiter ID and share it with your network.
