Wow, what a powerful start to our week at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago! As we close out Day 1, we want to share the exciting highlights and invite you to join us for the remaining days of action and advocacy.
Our presence was unmistakable today. Move to Amend members turned heads and sparked conversations with dramatic visual statements by wearing robes adorned with corporate logos, symbolizing the ultra-corporate-friendly Supreme Court. Furthermore, one of our co-directors also portrayed a character from The Handmaid’s Tale, highlighting the ongoing attacks on women’s rights.
These eye-catching actions set a vibrant tone for the rest of our week, calling to challenge the influence of big money in politics and restore power to the people.
But wait, there's more good news!
One of the day’s biggest highlights was our meeting with Presidential Candidate Jill Stein at the Poor People's Army rally and march.
Jill Stein took the Pledge to Amend, committing to use her power, if elected, to push for the We the People Amendment. We have photos and a video of this exciting moment—check them out and see her commitment to our cause!
Also, it's worth noting that our work to advance the We the People Amendment has received support from leaders across the political spectrum. Vice President Kamala Harris and VP nominee Tim Walz have both backed this important cause in the past, showing that the fight for a true democracy transcends party lines.
We also have some updates about the first day of the Progressive Central 2024, were our dedicated volunteers have been actively tabling and making connections. They’ve had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with influential voices such as Madea Benjamin, co-founder of CodePink, Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!, and Rep. Pramila Jayapal, our congressional lead sponsor. These interactions are crucial in driving home our call for a world we all deserve.
Every donation you make fuels our ability to host impactful in-person events, sustain a strong presence at pivotal conferences, and drive forward our crucial campaigns. By becoming a recurring donor, you ensure we have the resources to keep our momentum and create real, lasting change.
Thank you for your unwavering support and for standing with us in our fight for a democracy that truly serves the people. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.
