H.J.R. 54 Keeps Gaining Momentum!

We're thrilled to announce that in July, we successfully gained the support of 9 dedicated cosponsors for The We the People Amendment H.J.R. 54.

But our work is far from over! During the August Recess, Congressional members will be back in their districts for the whole month. This presents the perfect opportunity to advocate for the passage of the We the People Amendment and rally even more support.

We encourage all our dedicated supporters to visit our www.MoveToAmend.org/118Campaign website, where you'll find a wealth of resources to assist in your lobbying efforts.

Additionally, use the link below to quickly and easily call your Representative's office and voice your support for the #WeThePeopleAmendment.

Lastly, don't forget to sign up for our Lobbying campaign - which allows us to connect you with like-minded volunteers in your district.

Together, we can amplify our voices, strengthen our lobbying endeavors, and pass the We the People Amendment!

If you can't lobby, consider maybe helping us add more people to our base by creating your personalized link and then sharing it via email, text, or on social media. Everyone that signs the petition from your link will be credited to you.

And, if you are ready to hit the streets, you can also collect signatures on our Motion to Amend petition.

We are thrilled to announce that Move to Amend's very own National Co-Director, Greg Coleridge, will be featured on Thom Hartmann's Program on Wednesday, August 9th in the 2 pm ET hour.

Tune in to witness an exhilarating discussion as they dissect Thom's latest article, "Is Sam Alito Barbieland’s Nightmare?" and discuss the effort to enact the We the People Amendment.

"When Barbie has more integrity than six Republican members of the US Supreme Court, you know American democracy is in a crisis…"

Greg and Thom will delve into the sick legal notion that corporations are treated as people, and money is bestowed with protected free speech rights. Together, they will explore the We the People Amendment as the most viable solution to this pressing issue.

You don't want to miss it!

We are thrilled to announce that some of our passionate and dedicated staff members and supporters will be marching in the monumental March to End Fossil Fuels on September 17, 2023, in the heart of New York City. This momentous event is not just about raising awareness of the urgent need to transition to renewable energy sources; it's about recognizing the undeniable connection between fossil fuels and corporate rule.

At Move to Amend, we firmly believe that we cannot achieve environmental justice without tackling the root cause of corporate influence in our political system. The continued dominance of fossil fuel giants over our energy policies and regulations exemplifies the extent of corporate control that plagues our democracy.

We march in solidarity with the broader movement, highlighting the pivotal role of the "We the People" amendment in combating corporate personhood and restoring power to the people. Only by enacting this crucial amendment can we break free from the shackles of corporate rule and pave the way for a sustainable, equitable future.

Join us, if you can, in this historic demonstration, as we unite our voices to end the grip of fossil fuels and reclaim our democracy for the greater good of humanity and the planet. Together, we can build a world where the will of the people prevails over corporate interests, fostering an era of true climate justice and genuine democracy.

We've said many times, 'We would be nothing without our affiliates, advocates, and supporters.' They do a lot of the heavy lifting, which is why we've been recognizing all they do for the movement each month.

Each month we will use this space to spotlight different Affiliates. This month we want to spotlight the Move to Amend Miami County (Ohio). They've been making waves in their community, standing up for democratic principles and advocating for change.

In their recent Monthly Report, they showcased their commitment to action and engagement. From attending important city council meetings to voicing opposition against State Issue 1, they are actively participating in local politics.

Additionally, their efforts to spread the message and canvass to rally support for the "NO" vote on Issue 1 are commendable.

Moreover, their dedication to fostering dialogue with elected representatives, as seen through their scheduled meeting with Johnathon Graham, field rep for Rep. Mike Carey, reflects their proactive approach to creating change. We applaud Move to Amend Miami County for their ongoing efforts to promote the We the People Amendment and eagerly await updates on their meeting with Rep. Warren Davidson. Keep up the inspiring work!

We also want to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of Margaret Koster, an individual Move to Amend advocate in Ventura, CA. whose proactive engagement has yielded impressive results as evidenced by her email contact with Rep. Salud Carbajal's DC office, which resulted in his re-upping as a co-sponsor. Her dedication and commitment to the cause exemplify the power of grassroots advocacy. Her dedication and action showcase the immense power individuals have in shaping our democracy.

Let's applaud the incredible work of Move to Amend Miami County and Margaret Koster, who serve as inspiring examples of how collective and individual efforts can drive change locally and nationally. Together, we will continue to build a movement that ensures the voice of the people remains at the heart of our democracy.

Don't forget to submit your monthly affiliate reports.

These reports are a crucial tool for spotlighting the incredible efforts of our affiliates across the country and provide a platform for sharing best practices, success stories, and challenges faced in the fight for a constitutional amendment to end corporate personhood and money as speech in our political system.
