June 2025 Newsletter

As we move forward in the fight to pass the We the People Amendment (House Joint Resolution 54), we are seeing real progress—both in the halls of Congress and in communities across the country.

Move to Amend has always been about building powerful coalitions with allies, participating in high-impact events, and gathering momentum to End Corporate Rule and create real democracy for real people.

Which is why we're proud to offer you, besides the usual Congressional Report, an official coalition update, and ways YOU can take action!

🏛️ Congressional Update:

The We the People Amendment keeps gaining significant support in Congress, and we are getting closer every day to achieving our goal of ending corporate rule and returning power to the people.

We’re thrilled to announce that Reps. Maxine Dexter (OR-03) and Eric Swalwell (CA-15) are expected to officially cosponsor the amendment—bringing our total cosponsors in the House to 55!

Their support marks a significant step forward in our effort to build bipartisan support and expand our coalition.

Simultaneously, on the Senate side, we continue to work on introducing a companion bill for the We the People Amendment (H.J. Res. 54) in the Senate, as the need for this amendment is more urgent than ever. The

Big Beautiful Bill (OBBBA) -- or the The Corporate Bailout Bonanza -- now under consideration, many GOP senators have openly criticized it for its overspending, economic concerns, and the blatant transfer of wealth that benefits the wealthiest corporations and individuals. These actions only exacerbate the privatization of public resources, undermining the very essence of democracy.

The We the People Amendment is precisely the solution we need to address these systemic issues. By eliminating corporate constitutional rights and reducing the power of money in politics, the We the People Amendment directly challenges the very practices that allow for these undemocratic wealth transfers and the erosion of public services. It’s time to put people over profit and restore democracy to the hands of the people.

Our efforts to engage key Senate offices continue as we fight to bring We the People into the conversation. Together, we can push for a future where the people—not corporate elites—hold the true power.

It’s now time to make your voice heard!

Use our One Click Politics tool to call your Congressperson and Senators and demand they support the We the People Amendment (H.J. Res. 54). This is your opportunity to push back against the growing influence of corporate power and ensure that our democracy works for the people.

📢 Coalition update:

With progress being made in Congress, we’re also focused on mobilizing communities across the country and building momentum for the We the People Amendment through grassroots actions. We invite you to check out the partnering events below and to join this wave of change.

NO KINGS Day – June 14, 2025

On June 14, Move to Amend is proud to be a national partnering organization for NO KINGS Day, a national day of action that brings together people from all walks of life to reject authoritarianism, corruption, and corporate rule. This event is a collective stand against the growing concentration of power in the hands of corporations and elites, something that Move to Amend has been fighting against with the We the People Amendment.

The NO KINGS Day actions are an opportunity to mobilize communities across the country, showing that the people are the true source of power—not the wealthy few who have too often dictated the policies that impact us all. From anti-war efforts to environmental justice, racial and economic justice, and workers' rights, NO KINGS Day exemplifies the intersectionality of MTA’s mission—unifying various movements fighting corporate rule, social inequity, and government corruption.

As a movement of movements, MTA encourages supporters to show up at local events or sign up to host one. Whether it's a march, a rally, or a visibility action, NO KINGS Day provides a platform to challenge the corporate power that undermines all of these critical issues.

Whethere you attend a local event or host your own, dont forger to help spread the word about Move to Amend in your community by downloading and printing a standard-sized poster.

By coming together on NO KINGS Day, we demonstrate that the fight to end corporate rule is one that intersects with a variety of justice movements—from racial and environmental justice to workers’ rights and more. Move to Amend stands firmly in solidarity with all those advocating for a future where power lies in the hands of the people.

July 27 DC March for Integrity

On July 27, Move to Amend is proud to cosponsor the March for Integrity in Washington, D.C., alongside a coalition of organizations committed to ending the corrupt influence of money in politics. This march will highlight the urgent need to tackle both corporate constitutional rights and the overwhelming influence of money in our democracy.

While groups like End Citizens United focus on money in politics, Move to Amend addresses the root cause—corporate constitutional rights. The We the People Amendment (H.J. Res. 54) seeks to end corporate personhood and the unconstitutional rights corporations currently wield, including their control over our elections and policies.
