February 20 marks a global celebration of World Day for Social Justice. The theme for 2025 is "Strengthening a Just Transition for a Sustainable Future." The idea of a sustainable future is a cruel joke while Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and big money interests are running the United States like a private equity firm and stripping us all for parts. It is up to us, the people, to enact this just transition and put an end to this nonsense, once and for all.
The cards are all on the table. The complete corporate capture of the United States is here. The transgressions number too many to count. Donald Trump advertises his corruption to oil companies at rallies. Elon Musk and DOGE retaliate against political opponents and government agencies that were investigating him, all while awarding his own companies billions in new state contracts. None of this seems very just.
For many, their worst fears about a Trump administration and his trademark brand of corruption have come to light. For some, they know corporate interests have long been calling the shots, it is now just a lot more blatant and - if I can editorialize - stupid than ever before.
Stupid or not, the marriage between corporate and state power is bad as ever and set to get much worse, legitimately threatening to be the end of any shred of sanctity our government ever had. Now more than ever we desperately need the We The People Amendment and to put the power to govern into the hands of the people.
If we are going to secure a sustainable future we must transition away from where our political landscape has taken us. Luckily, the We The People Amendment was just reintroduced into the 119th Congress with 28 original cosponsors this past week.
This World Day for Social Justice, let’s take action to make a just transition more than just a theme. Let’s make it a reality. Here’s how you can help:
- Demand Action from Your Representatives: Call or email your Member of Congress and urge them to cosponsor the We The People Amendment (H.J.Res.54). If they’ve already signed on, thank them and ask them to champion the bill publicly.
- Get Candidates on the Record: Ask candidates in your area if they take corporate PAC money. Share their responses widely—your community deserves to know.
- Raise Awareness in Your Community: Host a discussion, share on social media, or organize a local event to educate others about the devastating impact of corporate influence and the importance of the amendment.
- Join Us in Direct Action: We’ll be organizing national and local actions in the coming months. Stay tuned for details or reach out to learn how you can join us in the fight.
If we want a sustainable and just future, we must fight for it. The We The People Amendment is our chance to reclaim democracy and ensure that government works for us—not corporations. Together, we can make this happen.
Thank you for being part of this movement. Let’s keep pushing forward.
Keep fighting the good fight!
In solidarity,
