The growing political, economic and social problems in our nation demand major proportionate solutions that go beyond a single election and passing a few new laws -- no matter the outcome of the mid-term or 2028 elections. We need to envision and work at the grassroots for constitutional changes that expand the rights of people, ensure a livable world and provide We the People the power to make decisions affecting our lives.
We simply can't spend all our time playing defense inside a constitutional system that concentrates political and economic power to a relatively few individuals.
Essential is to make the U.S. Constitution more democratic and capable of addressing issues that its drafters had no way to anticipate: ecological collapse, the size and mobility of corporations, massive economic inequality, hundreds of millions of guns in private hands, the escalation of immigration, artificial intelligence, etc.
The U.S. Constitution should be a living document -- that responds to current and anticipated future realities.
People are coming together across the country to share ideas for fundamental social change. The U.S. Constitution is part of that discussion.
