Brecksville Ohio Democracy Day Public Hearing
Tuesday, February 23, 6:30 pm ET
Biennial city-sponsored virtual public hearing for Brecksville residents to speak on the impact of money in politics and its influence on our democracy and the role of corporations and other moneyed interests that play a part in the political process.
The hearing was mandated as part of a effort led by Move to Amend supporters to pass a ballot initiative calling on the City to communicate to federal and state representatives that Mentor citizens want a Constitutional Amendment to end corporate personhood and money as free speech. The citizen-driven ballot initiative passed in 2012 with 52% of the vote at the same time that Brecksville residents voted 2:1 in favor of Mitt Romney over Barack Obama.
While speakers can only be Brecksville residents (in addition to MTA Outreach Director Greg Coleridge), anyone can virtually attend.
