This month, we’re highlighting the Santa Clara, CA affiliate for their strong efforts at the San Jose and Milpitas No Kings events, their lobbying for SB 42, and their success in securing HJR 54 co-sponsors. Our Minnesota affiliates are also making strides with impactful organizing. And we also wish to shine a bright light on our new Move to Amend advocates joining the movement!
This month, we’re excited to highlight the incredible work of the Santa Clara County Move to Amend affiliate. In their recent meetings, they’ve made tremendous strides in advancing our mission to end corporate constitutional rights and promote real democracy. Some key successes include gathering petition signatures at the San Jose No Kings event, mobilizing 300+ people for the Milpitas No Kings rally, and successfully lobbying the California Assembly Elections Committee on behalf of SB 42, the California Fair Elections Act, which passed 5-2.
Additionally, they’ve continued their efforts to expand support for HJR 54, gaining co-sponsors like Rep. Swalwell and Rep. Simon. Their ongoing outreach to U.S. Representatives and Senators is essential in the push for more co-sponsors.
The Santa Clara team has also been deeply involved in coalition-building, endorsing key legislation like SB 42 and supporting the Transparent Elections Initiative, led by Greg Coleridge.
We’re so proud of their persistence and dedication to the cause. Keep up the amazing work, Santa Clara!
We’re also excited to shine a spotlight on Minnesota Move to Amend and their innovative Spokes and Chokepoints Working Group. This group is focused on illustrating how corporate power acts as a "chokepoint" that stifles progress on critical social justice issues, including healthcare, housing, and education. They are tackling the systemic barriers that corporate influence creates within these sectors and working to bring attention to the ways that corporate entities restrict meaningful reform.
The group has been developing creative strategies to make these connections clear and accessible for a wider audience. For example, they are working on developing a visual campaign—using graphics and memes—that simplifies the concept of corporate power as a chokepoint. Each graphic will highlight a different issue area, such as healthcare or housing, showing how corporate interests create roadblocks that prevent solutions from reaching the people who need them most.
Their work emphasizes the intersectionality of these issues, showcasing how corporate control over politics and policy leads to inequality in housing, limits access to affordable healthcare, and obstructs educational reform. By identifying corporate interests as a central, unifying issue across all these sectors, they are working to raise awareness about the urgent need for the We the People Amendment to reclaim democracy for the people, not corporations.
Through this effort, the Minnesota team is laying the groundwork for a broader public education campaign that connects everyday struggles with corporate influence, showing how corporate interests are a primary driver of inequality and injustice in these key areas. Their approach is both strategic and creative, utilizing both digital tools and grassroots organizing to build momentum and spark change.
We look forward to seeing how this campaign grows and the impact it will have in Minnesota and beyond.
Lastly, we want to give a special shoutout to some of our new affiliates and advocates who are joining the movement and strengthening the fight for real democracy:

Janis R. from the Houston, Texas area, our newest advocate in the Lone Star state.
Coty K. from Florida, our newest advocate ecologist, is an ecologist and author of an incredible article.
Welcome to the movement! Your passion and commitment are what will help us build a truly democratic society. We’re so grateful to have you on board!
