Showings of "Pay2Play"

On November 6 Move to Amend Utah held a showing of the 89-minute documentary, "Pay2Play," at the University of Utah Law School in Salt Lake City.  On November 14 we held a second showing at the Forest Glen condominium complex in Salt Lake.  In both cases, the film was well received.  Next March we will be showing it again, this time in Moab, Utah.

Public lecture on "Getting Big Money out of Politics

On July 21 MTA - Salt Lake members Tom Huckin and Elise Lazar gave a public lecture on "Getting Big Money out of Politics" at the First Unitarian Church in Salt Lake City.  About 90-100 church members and visitors were in attendance, including at least one candidate in the current race to be next Salt Lake City mayor.  The talk lasted about 30 minutes and was followed by at least 35 minutes of lively Q & A.  Subsequently, 41 people signed up as new supporters of Move to Amend -- Salt Lake.

     2019 promises to be a pivital year; the real work of Democracy begins:  hounding our representatives to do their jobs, reminding them that THEY WORK FOR US, not the other way around.  We just have to get back into the driver's seat and with these recent elections which included a social democrat, two Muslim women, two First Nation women and others who embrace the diversity of our makeup, things are indeed looking up.  We need to challenge, to keep their feet to the fire, so that we restore Democracy, v. the corptacracy/oligarchy we have evolved into.  That's why Move To Amend is so vital right now.  We have our priorities straight:  First, get the money out of the process, then more of our urgent needs can be met when legalized bribery is a thing of the past.
