We really need to talk about the weather - save the date, Oct. 1st

Here's a not-so-fun fact:The wildfire season in California hasn't yet begun.

Join us on October 1st -- it's time to analyze and strategize together for the future of our livable planet.

The West coast has been ablaze for many weeks now, with regular mass evacuations, loss of housing, and unbearably toxic air.

In the Southeast, hurricane names have been moved into the Greek alphabet because we've already run out of letters for the large, powerful hurricanes that are relentlessly battering the islands and coasts.

This is beyond an emergency! And we will not be shying away from this conversation -- in fact we plan to have it as often as we can. Please join our National Director, Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap, and fellow democracy supporters and activists for a discussion and inspiring call to action on October 1:

And while we may be able to cast votes to mitigate some of the harm -- the reality is that we cannot vote our way out of climate collapse under this current system. We need a long game. And the #WeThePeopleAmendment is one of those deep, systemic solutions. Support the movement for a 28th amendment that would make clear that fossil fuel corporations are not people, and that their money is not free speech!

The #WeThePeopleAmendment would level the playing field so that human beings and communities can address the climate crisis together with bold, transformative and popular legislation like the Green New Deal. Currently, the industries that create and profit from this crisis are able to thwart our efforts to pass such legislation. And if we do succeed in passing legislation that threatens their profits, they can sue and gut it into an unrecognizable mess.
