KPFK Radio's Peter Mathews Will Feature David Cobb This Thursday

July 2, 2014

"STANDING UP FOR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE"  will be the theme as Peter Mathews interviews three leaders in the struggle to create a more just, peaceful, sustainable, and healthy world.

David Cobb is on the National Leadership Team of the Move To Amend Coalition. He is a lawyer and political activist, and was the Green Party Candidate for President in 2004. David has sued corporate polluters and lobbied elected officials, and has been arrested for non-violent civil disobedience.  He truly believes we must use ALL the tools in the toolbox to effect the systemic social change we so desperately need. He will explain the nationwide campaign to adopt the We the People (28th) Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, that will remove Corporate Person hood and declare that Money Is Not Speech.

Dr. Michael Parenti, who earned his Ph.D. in political science from Yale University is the author of twenty-five books including The Face of Imperialism, Democracy for the Few, and  his new book Waiting for Yesterday, Pages From A Street Kid's Life. His works cover a wide range of subjects, including politics, history, empire, wealth, class power, culture, ideology, media, environment, gender, and ethnic life. Dr. Parenti will be discussing his new book, as well as ideas on the continuing struggle for social justice in the U.S. and the World.

Pamm Larry is leader in the Label GMOs movement. She and thousands of other food safety activists successfully placed Proposition 37, to require the labeling of genetically modified foods (GMOs), on California's 2012 General Election Ballot. She will be talking about that and present campaigns to give the people an informed choice in what we eat. We will examine the role of Big Corporate Money, including Monsanto's, in barely defeating Prop 37, which won over 48% of the vote of Californians.

Thursday's Host, Peter Mathews, professor of political science and sociology, Progressive radio and TV political analyst, and op-ed writer published in the Long Beach Register, the OC Register, and the Press Telegram, is the author of his recently published book on money and politics, Dollar Democracy: With Liberty and Justice for Some; How to Reclaim the American Dream for All. His website is He may be reached on his cell at 562-234-3319.
