The Chicago Bears (3-13) will battle the Minnesota Vikings (12-4) on Sunday, where Chicago is looking to end a frustrating 2022 season on a positive note.

But they’ll have to face a Vikings team with plenty on the line — the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs. Meanwhile, the Bears also have something big on the line — the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. If Chicago loses and the Houston Texans beat the Indianapolis Colts, the Bears get the top selection, which gives them a ton of leverage this offseason.

Ahead of Sunday’s final regular season game for Chicago, we’re prepared to outline our Bears vs. Vikings prediction for NFL Week 18.

Individual players aside, neither of these teams really have anything for which to play. The Bears (3-13), who already have announced Nathan Peterman will start over Justin Fields, are purely chasing the No. 1 draft pick. As for the Vikings (12-4), they have the division locked up and can’t move from their current seeding.

With the change in quarterback, Chicago moved from a four-point underdog early in the week to eight points at writing with the total set at 43 points.

Same-Game Parlay: Vikings Moneyline & Justin Jefferson Anytime TD (+115)
It’s so square we’re nearly at rectangle status with this play, but I can’t foresee any different outcome than the Vikings winning.

With the move from Fields to Peterman, the Bears are fully acknowledging this game is meaningless and they should be doing everything in their power to lose. Given there’s still an outside shot the Bears secure the top overall pick, I fully expect the Vikings take advantage.

Even if you exclude those factors, the Vikings — albeit a hugely overrated side — are a nightmare matchup for the Bears. Despite sitting 20th in offensive DVOA, Minnesota is nearly a top-half side when it comes to their passing game as they sit 17th in that metric, according to footballoutsiders.com.

On the flip-side, the Bears rank dead-last in defensive DVOA (translation: they’re really bad defensively) and are 31st against the pass. Thus, bettors should expect the Vikings’ aerial threat to do enough against the Bears to win this game.

As for the second leg of our same-game parlay, the inclusion of Jefferson comes down to the heavy motivation for the LSU product in this game.

Jefferson needs 194 receiving yards to break the single-season record set by Detroit’s Calvin Johnson in 2012 and 229 yards to break the 2,000-yard mark. Furthermore, Jefferson could still face a challenge for the receiving yards leader this season as Tyreek Hill needs to make up only 88 yards to eclipse the Vikings wideout.

Although he failed to score a touchdown in a game earlier this season against the Bears, Jefferson proved virtually indefensible by the Chicago secondary. In Week 5, Jefferson grabbed 12 catches on 13 targets for 154 yards, his fourth-highest output this season in game yardage.

With all those records on the line, expect Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins to look for Jefferson as frequently as possible.

As a result, back this same-game parlay at anything better than +100.
