While their wins over Kenya (3-0) and Japan (3-1) were expected, they stepped up their game to beat Brazil (2-3) and Republic of Korea (2-3). Their only loss was against Serbia (3-0) but their 8 points were enough to reach the knockout round.
Meanwhile, the USA finished ato of Pool B but no without suffering against some teams.
