January 2026 Newsletter

A Different Kind of Year Ahead

The new year often brings a familiar mix of resolve and overwhelm.

We see the damage clearly: communities stretched thin, institutions captured, harm normalized, and a political system that too often protects power rather than people. Many of us feel urgency. Many of us feel exhausted. Most of us feel both.

At Move to Amend, we’ve been sitting with an honest question as we head into 2026:

What does this moment actually require of us?

Not just what’s possible—but what’s necessary.

What’s emerging is not one project or one campaign—but a more integrated approach to how people build power over time.

In 2026, you’ll see Move to Amend:

  • Expand how we challenge corporate power, not only in Congress, but in the real-world systems that shape people’s daily lives

  • Deepen public education around constitutional change—what it has taken historically, and what it will take now

  • Create clearer pathways for participation, so people can move from concern to contribution without burning out

  • Strengthen coalition work, especially with groups already confronting corporate harm in their communities

  • Invest in leadership and learning, because lasting change requires more than moments—it requires movements

We’re being intentional about how this unfolds. Some ideas need time to mature. Some strategies require the right sequencing. And some work can only happen once we have the resources to sustain it.

From Overwhelm to Action

One theme keeps surfacing in our conversations: people are ready to act—but unsure where their energy will matter most.

That’s not a failure of motivation. It’s a failure of systems that overwhelm people without offering meaningful entry points.

In the months ahead, we’ll be sharing tools, conversations, and opportunities designed to help move people from frustration, burnout, and despair into effective, collective action—grounded in history, clarity, and solidarity.

This includes creating space to wrestle with big questions:

  • How have constitutional changes actually happened in the past?

  • Why is focusing only on policy reform no longer enough?

  • What does it look like to confront corporate power where it operates—not just where it lobbies?

We’re committed to making this work accessible, rigorous, and rooted in real-world struggle—not academic abstraction.

Why Support Matters Right Now

Before many of these next steps can fully launch, one thing is clear: capacity matters.

Planning without resources only goes so far. Paid staff, organizing infrastructure, and sustained programs don’t appear on goodwill alone.

As we move through early 2026, your financial support helps determine:

  • What we can responsibly initiate

  • How deeply we can support local organizing

  • How much education and coordination we can offer beyond email and social media

If you believe this moment calls for more than symbolic resistance—if you believe we must go deeper than surface reforms—then supporting Move to Amend is one of the most concrete ways to help build what comes next.

Governing in the Shadow of Big Money

What happens after candidates win without billionaire backing?

Join Move to Amend and partners for a timely discussion on how big money continues to shape governance—even in grassroots victories. We’ll examine recent NYC elections, the role of public financing and municipal debt, historical parallels, and how wealthy interests organize backlash when people-powered campaigns succeed.

As we approach the anniversary of Citizens United, this conversation underscores why structural solutions like the We the People Amendment (H.J.Res. 54) remain essential.

In Miami County, Ohio, organizers gathered to celebrate their work, welcome new supporters, thank legislators who’ve stood up for constitutional change, and begin looking toward actions tied to the anniversary of Citizens United.

From local gatherings to year-end outreach, this kind of people-powered organizing—supported by so many of you during our end-of-year drive—is helping lay the groundwork for what comes next in 2026.
