Affiliate and Advocate Spotlight - January 2026

Affiliate Spotlight: Miami County, Ohio

As the year came to a close, Move to Amend Miami County, Ohio offered a powerful reminder of what sustained, relational organizing looks like.

On December 3, the affiliate hosted an end-of-year gathering at a local restaurant, bringing together core organizers, prospective new members, and guests—nearly 20 people in all. It was a moment to celebrate what they had built in 2025, reconnect as a community, and look ahead to the work still needed in the year to come.

That evening also reflected the care and persistence that define effective grassroots organizing. Participants signed greeting and thank-you cards to 24 legislators—recognizing those who have stood up for constitutional change and people power, including supporters of Ohio’s House and Senate resolutions calling for an amendment to end corporate personhood and money as speech. Before the year’s end, the group even received a personal thank-you note from one of those legislators—an affirmation that consistent pressure and appreciation matter.

As the Miami County team looks ahead, they’re already discussing future actions tied to the anniversary of Citizens United—connecting local relationships to national moments of reflection and resolve.

We’re deeply grateful to Deb Hogshead and the Miami County affiliate for modeling what it means to organize with intention, warmth, and strategic clarity.

💛 Thank You to Our End-of-Year Supporters

This spotlight also belongs to everyone who gave, organized, called, hosted, shared, and showed up during our end-of-year fundraising drive.

Your support made it possible for Move to Amend to close out a challenging year with stability, momentum, and a clear path forward. At a time when so many organizations are forced to narrow their vision, you helped us do the opposite—to plan boldly, honestly, and responsibly for what comes next.

Looking Ahead

As our 2025 Annual Report makes clear, this was not a normal year—and the challenges we face demand systemic solutions.

Across the country, affiliates, organizers, and supporters like you helped keep the focus where it belongs: on the root causes of corporate domination and the long-term work required to dismantle it. Together, we reintroduced the We the People Amendment, expanded political education, strengthened national networks, and laid the groundwork for a new phase of organizing as we approach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The story of Miami County is one chapter in a much larger story—one being written, every day, by people who refuse to accept an unjust status quo and continue organizing anyway.

Thank you for being part of that work.
