Who is deciding our public polices regarding our elections, education, environmental, affordable housing, social justice, and other issues? People or big money?
If you believe that corporations have more influence than We the People, then you are in good company. 80 percent of Americans feel the same.
The question is, How did this happen? One major catalyst was the Citizens United v. the FEC (Federal Elections Commission) ruling. In 2010, the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision on Citizens United opened the floodgates to the unlimited funding of elections.
Fortunately, the case also ignited the call for the national grassroots people’s movement, Move to Amend. This month, Move to Amend’s Central Ohio affiliate will present our monthly program meeting on the brief history of the Citizens United case and its horrendous consequences to our democracy. All are invited. This event is free.
