Taking Action to Abolish Corporate Personhood: How We Can Amend the Constitution, End Corporatocracy & Affirm the Rights of All
This new abolition movement is taking off... because it is time to end corporate domination of human societies!
It's about campaign financing, Citizen's United, and so much more!
Corporate Personhood is the big lie that permits corporatocracy. For over a century, the legal fiction of Corporate Personhood has enabled corporations to subvert democracy and get away with massive crimes. Now, a broad grassroots movement is building to Abolish Corporate Personhood by amending the U.S. Constitution: "Corporations are not People, and Money is not Free Speech."
We will unravel the hidden history of this horrendous legal fiction. More importantly, we will focus on positive solutions, taking action and participating in this movement.
The event will begin with a few great video shorts, featuring Annie Leonard (Story of Stuff), Thom Hartmann & David Cobb.
Then, deep dialog with 3 experienced activists:
- Emogene Trexel, PhD Sociology of Education. Retired Attorney for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Volunteer with CA Common Cause on Citizens United. Long-time peace activist.
- Jonathan Frieman, lawyer, non-profit consultant & community activist. Co-founder, Center for Corporate Policy, an action-oriented think-tank in D.C. addressing the legal structure of corporations.
- Abraham Entin, founder & point person for North Bay Affiliate of Move to Amend-the Coalition to End Corporate Personhood. Lifelong advocate for peace, civil rights & individual transformation through non-violence.
